Christians, Power, & Calling

This week Trent Wilbanks and I are team teaching our final module for the academic year.  Cultural transformation is the topic, and Andy Crouch’s book Culture Making is the backbone text.  Concept of the week?  Power.  Crouch says that cultural power is “the ability to successfully propose a new cultural good.”  As it turns out, this concept is related to our various callings.  More to come on this in …

This past weekend was an opportunity like none other!

I genuinely enjoyed class this week. Dr. Luder Whitlock Jr. was our professor this week and sadly, was our last guest professor for this year. We read his book The Spiritual Quest in preparation for his topic, spiritual formation. He made it very clear from the beginning that his desire was for us to understand completely what he taught us and that what he taught was beneficial to us.

The Gap-Year: An Increasingly Popular Option for Millennials

I just got back from a fantastic two-day gap-year round-table forum in Manitou Springs, CO.  The forum was a group of 11 gap-year program and non-traditional educational leaders, some of whom have been directing their programs for a few years, others who are just now launching.
