The Blessings of Humility

Know.  Be.  Live.  These three words changed the course of my future.  In high school, I aspired to be a business owner…or an English instructor…or simply to find a husband in college, get married quickly, and skip out on a career.  However, there was an issue in my desire to attempt higher education: I had an apathy for acquiring knowledge.  I wanted to grow and learn and be refined, but I was not so willing …

Helping out Tornado Victims

Helping out Tornado Victims

As most of you know, last Wednesday’s storms hit very close to home for us. Much of Hamilton, Pine Mountain Valley and Lagrange were pretty severely damaged. Houses were destroyed and hundreds of were trees thrown around and uprooted. As a class, we all really wanted to do something to help, I mean that’s what being a Christ-centered servant leader is all about. Finally today we had the opportunity to go into Lagrange and help …

Serving the community

Serving the community

This past weekend was an opportunity like none other!

Looks good from here. Matt and Mitch putting final touches on a new set of steps.

We, the great class of 2011, had the opportunity to work with older and wiser IMPACT 360 alumni as we served our community. The alumni service weekend is a really incredible time for the alumni to come down from their schools and jobs to serve us, serve with us, and help …

Class with Dr. Whitlock

Class with Dr. Whitlock

I genuinely enjoyed class this week. Dr. Luder Whitlock Jr. was our professor this week and sadly, was our last guest professor for this year. We read his book The Spiritual Quest in preparation for his topic, spiritual formation. He made it very clear from the beginning that his desire was for us to understand completely what he taught us and that what he taught was beneficial to us.

Class began differently than any other …

Bioethics

This week the class of IMPACT 360 tackled the issue of bioethics. Before we could discuss the dilemmas that are currently being faced by bioethics, we had to answer the two fundamental questions: What is a human? And what is a human person for? We discovered that a human is a substance that possesses a soul; without this soul, humans could not exist. A human is not the same as an object; it has a …

Volunteering gets you plugged into the community at IMPACT360.

Volunteering gets you plugged into the community at IMPACT360.

One might say that a typical Wednesday night for Ashley Willis is a little different than that of a normal college freshman. Instead of studying or hanging out with friends, you’d find her leading worship, playing games, and teaching scripture to children. There is clearly something different about this girl.

Ashley is a student at IMPACT 360, and she volunteers every Wednesday night for four hours at the AWANA program for kids kindergarten through fifth …

Emmaus House LaGrange, Ga

Emmaus House LaGrange, Ga

Last Friday, the ladies at IMPACT 360 split into two groups for a day of helping out the community. One group went to a Georgia Baptist Children’s Home and I went with the group who went to a women’s homeless shelter called the Emmaus house. We showed up at the house and were asked to sit in on a Bible study with some ladies. I greatly enjoyed it and loved …

Teaching and Mentoring with Dr. Tackett

Teaching and Mentoring with Dr. Tackett

This week we had Dr. Del Tackett as professor. We were all really excited about having him, especially since so many of us have been impacted by his ministry through The Truth Project. I remember seeing him on campus for the first time on Sunday. He was a bit of a contrast to what I was expecting. I was expecting to meet a serious, business-like man who would look like he could have just come …

Womanhood Retreat

Last weekend was the annual Biblical Womanhood Retreat and it was incredible! All of the IMPACT girls including Mary Michael, Lyndsay Currier, Katy Thompson and all of our mentors went to The Summit for the weekend. In case you’re not familiar with The Summit, I’ll give you a little background information about it. It is a property that has (an absolutely BEAUTIFUL) three story house, pool, a pool cottage, carriage house and acres of land …

The manly Pre-Manhood Retreat

The manly Pre-Manhood Retreat

The sweet taste of cold icees; the stinging pain of a paintball wound; the faint hum of a golf-cart; the pungent smell of gunpowder; the taste of a juicy steak; and the cries of freedom from a brave-hearted man all dictate a well-spent weekend.
The men of IMPACT360 are preparing to embark on the man-hood retreat this Thursday. This retreat, with Greg Brown’s teaching will …
